HEIC is a image format: it applies H.265 (HEVC) intra-frame compression achieving roughly twice the efficiency of JPEG at equal visual quality, used natively by Apple devices. CR2 is a image format that stores data in the CR2 format. This conversion changes the file's encoding, compression method, and supported feature set. Colour profiles and orientation metadata are preserved in the output. Converting between these two formats is common when the source application does not support CR2 natively or when the target platform only accepts CR2. 1converter processes this conversion server-side using open-source tools.
