Microsoft Word 97-2003 Document (DOC) stores formatted text in a binary compound-document structure, requiring Microsoft Word or a compatible reader to render correctly. ODS file (ODS) stores data in the ODS format. This extracts structured tabular data from the document into an editable spreadsheet format. Metadata such as creation date and embedded colour profiles is preserved where the target format supports it.
