ODS file (ODS) stores data in the ODS format. Office Open XML Word Document (DOCX) stores text and formatting as zipped XML, relying on the reader's installed fonts to render the final layout. This converts the tabular data into a fixed-layout document suitable for printing or sharing. Metadata such as creation date and embedded colour profiles is preserved where the target format supports it.
