CR2 file (CR2) stores data in the CR2 format. Microsoft Word 97-2003 Document (DOC) stores formatted text in a binary compound-document structure, requiring Microsoft Word or a compatible reader to render correctly. This embeds the raster image inside a document container, fixing its dimensions on the page. Metadata such as creation date and embedded colour profiles is preserved where the target format supports it.
