PNG is a image format: it uses lossless DEFLATE compression and supports a full alpha-transparency channel, preserving every pixel exactly as encoded. CR2 is a image format that stores data in the CR2 format. This conversion changes the file's encoding, compression method, and supported feature set. Colour profiles and orientation metadata are preserved in the output.
