JPG is already a lossy compressed raster format, so the photo’s detail is limited to what’s in the JPG. In PPT, the image is embedded, so you can resize/crop on slides but not restore lost compression.
You can move, resize, and crop the embedded image in PPT and apply basic image effects. However, the underlying image pixels remain raster, not vector, so you can’t edit individual photo content like text or shapes.
JPG does not support an alpha channel, so any transparency present in your source must have been flattened already. The PPT slide will show the image as an opaque rectangle.
PPT files created from JPG are standard PowerPoint slide decks, so they typically open in PowerPoint and compatible viewers. Embed size may grow if the JPG is high-resolution, affecting load time on low-bandwidth devices.
